The study, published in Entrepreneur.com, found that 52% of respondents consider a home automation system—either a completely networked home, or just smart doors and motorized drapes—somewhat important. Households considering home automation in Philadelphia can learn a thing or two from the study’s findings, and from the insights of home automation manufacturers and professional programmers. Safety Fifty percent of the study respondents indicated safety as their main reason for wanting to automate their homes. The normal tendency for people leaving the house or retiring for the night is to make sure access points are closed and locked. A home automation system would do it automatically in case they forget.
